This year has proven to be wonderful already! God is good all the time and has taken care of our family and I am blessed beyond measure. My oldest got baptized last Sunday! She was so excited, after she got baptized she looked at me and said "Mom, I feel WONDERFUL!"
My husband got back from a mission trip to Mexico a couple weeks ago. It was hard to have him gone for a week but God kept us busy and brought my husband home safe.
I have stayed steady with business and just ended the busy spring season that was full with family pictures, daycare, weddings, dance studio and graduation pictures. I was very excited to get to do Tip Tap Toes pictures again this year and I was very pleased with how they turned out. Such beautiful costumes and fun kids! I also got to do St. Joseph's spring and graduation pictures for the second year. Great staff to work with and the kids are very respectful. The summer always proves to be slower with everyone on vacations and at the lakes but I am hoping for a steady summer!
This year has been a year of much growth for me. Photography is a very competitve world with a new photographer popping up every week. Many times it would bother me to see so many popping up or to see one of my customers use another photographer. My husband put it into perspective for me when he said, "It's like when someone has a favorite restaurant. They may love to eat there but every once in awhile they want to try something new. Doesn't mean they will never go back to their favorite restaurant again." I know I can't photograph everyone and I certainly wouldn't want to be busy all the time. God has always taken care of me, in the busy and in the slow times. I have definitly come to have a peace about all this much more this year than I ever have before.
I am always trying to find something new to offer to my customers or a different way to do things to keep it fresh. One thing I keep going back and forth on is my packaging for pictures. Currently I package them in just a plain white envelope. It may not be fancy but it has kept the cost down for the customer. However I don't want the packaging to take away from the content inside so I am questioning if I should raise my session fees to help cover better packaging or if people are ok with it the way it is.
Lastly, I want to make sure everyone knows I have a seperate website that people can view their portraits on. This is also a place you can go to see my work. I do have some photo gallerys on this website but it is very time consuming to add pictures to it so I don't add new ones very often. Please go over to my other site
to see all the portraits I have been working on lately!
Thank you for taking the time to read my blog. I don't get a chance to update it often and I know some of it may seem personal with it being about my family but I feel it is important for you to get a feel for who you will be working with. Look forward to working with you soon!
